Lidded Box
My inspiration for this lidded box for my grandma was this picture of daffodil candle holders i found on pinterest. I thought the middle of the flower would be perfect for a handle to take off the lid and it would be fun to experiment with gradients and blending of yellows and oranges.
It was actually fairly easy to make the actual box part of this project. The only problem I ran into was creating the petal all the same shape and size, I experimented with tools to give me the right shape and then decided to just use a fettling knife to cut the shape i wanted and use that one petal to trace the outline for the rest. Then creating the middle part was a little diffucult trying to find the perfect size and amount of waves to cut into the circle and then press it in the middle but I think it turned out well and I hope I slipped all the petals good so theres no cracks once it comes out of the kiln.
