Problems I ran into and what I would do differently next time:
I made this piece for my boyfriend for Christmas but sadly I wasn't able to get it in the kiln with a clear final glaze before break so its going to be a late Christmas present. My inspiration for this trinket tray was from a vintage cigarette ash tray that I found on Pinterest that was shaped like a playing card, I loved the idea but instead of putting A's for ace I put R's since both of our initials are R's. I actually did have any problems with this the only challenging part was get the under-glaze in such small symbols but i figured out its easier to slowly and carefully paint the letters and hearts then try to paint over it and wipe away the excess. If i were to do this again I would think about carving the heart into it earlier instead of having to slip and score it.
